0% vs. greater than 0%
I’ve been thinking about this mental chart all day. It’s really nothing extraordinary that you don’t already know about… but it has actually changed a lot of my actions lately — I think about it as “0% chance vs. greater than 0% chance”.
It’s a pretty self-explanatory concept.
If you don’t do something, there's a ~ 0% likelihood you’ll get what you want
If you do something, there's greater than a 0% chance you’ll get what you want
It’s stupidly obvious.
But it’s actually made some pretty positive changes in my life — just by asking myself, “Do I want the likelihood of this happening to be greater than 0%?”
So far, that question has led me to do things that I really didn’t feel like doing — like advocating for myself at work to get a raise, like publishing my writing online to get over my fear of being judged, like forcing myself to cook food for every mealtime to build better eating habits.
It’s funny how the stupidly obvious things can make so many meaningful changes, so I wanted to share my “greater than 0% question” with you in case it helps.
As you may have noticed, the last few newsletters haven’t been related to business trends at all. I honestly haven’t defined what this newsletter is about yet. So far, I’ve been writing about the things that take up some of my brainspace, which mostly involves reflecting on life as a 26 year old 😅 That being said, if you’re not finding value from this newsletter, don’t worry about unsubscribing — I won’t take it personally! But if you do decide to stick around, I just want to say thanks for taking the time to read along 💜
I love your newsletter, and wait for them every weekend ❤️
